Aga Bal (Born in1986) is an Polish artist, living and working in Teia, Barcelona, Spain. Her practice is rooted in material sensitivity - shaped by an early upbringing surrounded by sewing, fabric, and paint, later formalised through Fine Arts studies in Artistic Textiles in Poland and a Fashion Design degree in Cambridge, United Kingdom.

Aga’s professional background includes international work within the fashion industry for brands such as Adidas and Reebok, experiences that inform her understanding of construction, modularity, and surface. Based in Teià, Spain, she has returned to a slower and more contemplative studio practice.

Her current body of work reinterprets minimalism through sewn compositions and translucent layers of alkyd on linen. Each piece is constructed through stitching, assembling and layering - creating subtle spatial tensions between softness and structure, precision and imperfection. Positioned between painting and sculptural textile, her work proposes a quiet material architecture, inviting close viewing and tactile attention.
“My work is born from sewing shapes - of color, of emotion, of the unseen. I paint intuitively, applying one layer over another, until the color feels complete inside me. Each piece is a spiritual practice - a slow unfolding rather than a depiction.
Forms emerge like traces of garments or silhouettes, stripped of body, face or narrative. What interests me is not representation, but presence. Not what is seen, but what is felt. Through rsew shapes and color builds its own internal depth,like breathing, like healing and meditation.
My work seeks stillness, a place where the external dissolvesand only essence remains.”
